Arne Eliasson is an accomplished medical professional who serves as a psychiatry resident physician with the United States Army at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Cavazos, Texas. Academic Journey and Initial Successes
Arne grew up in a disciplined and academically focused environment. He graduated from Springbrook High School in 2006, where he was the Cross Country and Swim team captain, excelling in these sports and earning varsity letters. During his time in high school, he was also active in his local church, Colesville Presbyterian Church, and participated in several volunteer activities, including multiple week-long trips to help improve the homes of the less fortunate.
After high school, Arne attended Montgomery College in Maryland, where he participated in the Montgomery Scholars Program. This program awarded him a full-ride scholarship, which allowed him to study abroad at Cambridge University in the UK and participate in a fully funded scholarly tour of China.
Arne later transferred to Johns Hopkins University, where he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, focusing on Latin American Studies.
Career Start and Early Roles
Arne started his work life as a bicycle messenger in Baltimore, Maryland, for three years. During this time, he founded Epic Couriers LLC, a bicycle courier company. The company was successful under his leadership, and although Arne eventually sold it, the business website still exists today.
Arne’s dedication to helping others led him to volunteer at the Shepherd’s Clinic for the Uninsured in Baltimore. His commitment and hard work were recognized, and he was offered a full-time position as a Patient Care Coordinator in 2016. He continued to work at the clinic until he was accepted into medical school in 2018.
Healthcare Education and Service in the Armed Forces
Arne’s path to becoming a medical doctor began at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland, where he took the necessary courses to apply for medical school. His hard work paid off when he was accepted into the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. On July 7, 2018, Arne was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, starting his journey as a medical professional in the military.
During his training, Arne underwent his initial military training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, through the Direct Commissioning Course (DCC). He then attended USUHS as a Second Lieutenant. He participated in various rotations at Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) across the country, including Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Liberty, Fort Belvoir Army Community Hospital, Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Naval Medical Center San Diego, and Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Cavazos (Formerly Fort Hood).
While at USUHS, Arne served as a platoon leader, leading his platoon to receive honors. He also participated in various training opportunities, including Operation Bushmaster, a multi-day exercise in the Appalachian Mountains of Pennsylvania. This exercise simulated running a field hospital in a war zone and provided extensive training in combat casualty medicine, trauma medicine, and handling mass casualty events.
Arne graduated from USUHS in 2022 and was selected to join the Carl R. Darnall Army Psychiatry Residency program.

In 2011, Arne embarked on an adventure by hiking the Appalachian Trail, a challenging journey of over 2,175 miles that stretches from Georgia to Maine. Arne’s love for hiking has also taken him on two significant pilgrimages in Spain. In 2018, he hiked the Camino del Norte along the northern coast of Spain, and in 2023, he completed the Camino Portugues, a journey from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela.
Arne H. Eliasson is also an enthusiast of tabletop games, including Dungeons and Dragons. He enjoys cooking, particularly with a wok, and has a passion for fermenting and pickling various foods, such as pickles, sauerkraut, kombucha, ginger beer, and kimchi.
